A group of kids at the YMCA Camp Carson got quite the surprise this afternoon. Toyota donates $200,000 to the camp.
The donation will go towards renovations to the waterfront activity area, building a new gazebo, shower stalls, and new umbrellas and chairs. Camp Carson officials say it’s a donation that will give back in the years to come.
“Camp isn’t so much about the stuff but the relationships that are facilitated through the environment and so to watch them get super excited, this is an important place for the kids. I mean the afternoons are always spent down here and so for them to know it is going to change and improve for their benefit, yeah you saw the excitement, It was great,” said Mark Scoular.
The donation from Toyota is part of Camp Carson’s “Continuing the Legacy’ capital campaign. It was launched earlier this year with a goal of 4 million dollars in donations to the camp.
So far Camp Carson has raised just over 2.3 million dollars.
