A water main break near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Burkhardt left drivers taking detours for a couple of hours.
Joe Notter says, “Obviously they have all the roads blocked off and what not it definitely looks like a mess.”
A mess for parents trying to pick up their kids at a daycare center right across the street as crews were working on the 12 inch line that broke Monday afternoon.
It’s a mess just a few feet from Chris Taflinger’s lawn.
“We looked out front this morning and it was kind of a waterfall down Washington Avenue so it was a little different,” Taflinger says.
Allen Mounts, director of the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility says the water main break could be from old pipes, but says it could be a number of factors.
“There is a need to make infrastructure new and this is going to keep happening more and more and it’s probably going to cost us more in the long run,” Ayush Pathak from Newburgh says.
There is a precautionary boil advisory and affects people from the intersection of Lincoln and Cullen Avenue east on Newburgh Road to I-69 and Covert.
It also stretches south from Covert Avenue at Seasons Ridge Boulevard to Pollack and I-69, and covers a couple of neighborhoods south of the interstate.
