Many people were startled Wednesday night when they heard loud planes flying around Evansville.
It turns out those “planes” were two F/A-18 Super Hornets flying over the city.
According to Tri-State Aero, the military aircrafts stopped at the airport to refuel.
One family who lives near the airport says they thought they were hearing a plane that was about to crash.
They say the sound left their hearts racing for about 20 minutes.
“We actually braced ourselves. We both realized that it was a plane we were hearing and not something off of the television we were just. We both braced ourselves because weren’t too sure what was happening. I know a lot of people in our neighborhood said it woke them from a deep sleep so that’s how loud it was.”
Even the Shriner’s Fest took part in the moment tweeting “we are proud supporters of the sound of freedom”.
Did you hear the jets? A pair of U.S Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets dropped by the Evansville Regional Airport last night for some gas.
