MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) – Two people have been sentenced after 14 dogs were found dumped in Muhlenberg County in December 2019.
The Muhlenberg County Circuit Court Clerk says Justin Dwyer and Taylor Dwyer were both charged with cruelty to animals and pleaded guilty Wednesday.
We’re told they were both sentenced to 6 months incarcerated, but the sentenced was suspended for two years under certain conditions. If they violate the conditions of their sentence, they could end up serving the 6 months.
One of the dogs found was shot in the leg and had to get her leg amputated. She has since been adopted.
Another was found fatally shot in the head.
Authorities don’t believe these people were responsible for shooting the animals.
The Muhlenberg County Humane Society sent Eyewitness News a statement Thursday after the news of the sentencing.
The MCHS staff and board are working closely with our local law enforcement to bring justice for abused and neglected animals. We have another case that is pending also and we hope to see charges in that case also. We appreciate our law enforcement and county attorney for their hard work in investigating and charging these individuals. All dogs in this case have been adopted or sent to rescue after they were medically cleared.Muhlenberg County Humane Society
