The University of Evansville has announced plans to pursue the possible sale of nearly 42 acres of land.
The property is located on Division Street, in between The National Guard Armory and Stockwell Road.
UE obtained the property decades ago in a land swap with The State Hospital.
The Division Street real estate has historically been home to several different UE athletic teams.
For the last 20 years, a youth football league has used the space.
The University says the new owners may get rid of the current playing fields.
However, UE is working with the football league to support their continued operation.
UE’s president said the property no longer fits within the university’s master plan.
Any sale must be cleared by the Indiana General Assembly.
