VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – An Evansville man is facing charges after his third police chase since 2017. That’s according to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say Bret Weir, 31, had active felony warrants.
As Weir arrived home on Pleasant Ridge Drive Monday, deputies pulled in behind his vehicle and attempted to block him from leaving.
Deputies say Weir drove through the grass and was got onto the street. After a short chase, Weir got out of his vehicle and ran.
We’re told an Evansville Police K-9 found Weir a short time later in a wooded area.
Authorities say Weir previously avoided arrest on November 6, 2019 after he drove away when an Evansville Police officer tried to stop him for a traffic violation.
We’re told Weir also fled from a Sheriff’s Office deputy in September of 2017 in a stolen vehicle.
