Vote Could Mean Evansville’s New Master Plan Is Coming

The Evansville Redevelopment Commission selects a firm to possibly compile the new downtown master plan.

In a unanimous vote, the ERC picks Hafer Associates of Evansville. From here, they’ll negotiate a contract.

City officials say the downtown master plan will include two upcoming projects including the convention hotel and IU Med School along with Tropicana’s potential move to land-based gaming.

The president of Hafer Associates says being a local company gives them unique insight.

“The reason that we’re so excited about this opportunity is the fact that it is our hometown. We eat, breathe and sleep the same experiences as everyone around us. Quite honestly, we’re here to serve our community. Our community has been very good to us and we’re looking forward to be able to look back and help our community move forward with a vision that can be implemented,” said Hafer Associates President Jeff Justice.

Hafer Associates has done several city projects including the conceptual drawings for the proposed North Main redevelopment project.

This will be the city’s first master plan since 2001.
