Walk-a-thon Raises Money for Tri-State School

News
Students at a Posey County Elementary School spend part of their afternoon helping in more ways than one.

It’s the annual Walk-a-Thon at Marrs Elementary School today.

Besides getting exercise, they’re raising money for the school.

The idea comes after parents wanted to raise money without getting involved in other kinds of fundraising.

“I came up with the idea of a walk-a-thon here and all the money donated goes directly to our kids. We’ve raised almost 100,000 dollars in the 12 years I’ve been here with this event,” said Greg DeWesse.

This year’s goal is 8,000 dollars, and if it is reached, DeWesse will don a chicken suit and do the chicken dance during the school’s lunch periods.
