Evansville is planning a major road project on Walnut St. spanning three miles.
It will redo Walnut St. between Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in downtown Evansville to Vann Ave. on the east side.
The work will add wider sidewalks and a trail, but it will reduce the number of lanes.
Engineers said traffic flow may improve with a dedicated turn lane.
It’s estimated to cost about $8-10 million.
Work is scheduled to start in the spring next year.
The city will have a public meeting to talk about the plans on March 12, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the CK Newsome Center.
