A late afternoon pursuit leads to an arrest.and a whole lot more. Evansville Police seize drugs and guns from a South side home. The pursuit happened late this afternoon, but investigators were still on the scene hours later. Minutes ago we learned Evansville police arrested 20-year-old Joe Outlaw in connection with his case. Outlaw is being held without bond in the Vanderburgh County Jail on weapons and resisting charges. The investigation centers around a house in the 1700 block of East Riverside Drive near South Rotherwood Drive. Investigators say an officer tried pulling over Outlaw, but he fled and spun out near the home. Outlaw then made a run for it. Officers then searched the home trying to find the driver and apparently saw weapons and drugs in plain view.
“There’s two separate investigations going on. one is for the pursuit. we believe that the driver may be connected to this house as well. we think he was actually trying to get to this home when he was fleeing from the officer,” said Sergeant Jason Cullum.
Sergeant Cullum says the driver was caught a short time later. Two people inside the car were also questioned but released. The homeowner, police say is in custody pending the outcome of the investigation inside the home. Police had to obtain a search warrant to seize the drugs and guns inside. Our crew on-scene also reports seeing investigators carry what appeared to be dozens of shoe boxes out of the home. We’ll keep you posted on any updates.
