HENDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) – The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the three-car collision that closed down parts of Highway 41 near the weigh station on Thursday at 11:30 a.m..

Officers say the accident happened in the southbound lane of US 41 south just inside the Kentucky State line. According to police reports, Thomas Boyer Jr., 74, of Evansville drove a black 2010 Lexus across the median for unknown reasons where he collided with a 2022 Mac semi and a 2018 GMC SUV.

Police say the semi was driven by Tobias Sowles, 35, of Evansville and the GMC driver was Melinda Scheller, 58, of Boonville. Reports say Scheller was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and Boyer was pronounced dead at the scene by the Henderson County Coroner.

Boyer’s autopsy is expected to be done tomorrow morning at the soonest.
