EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT)– For more than 40 years Mesker Park Zoo has invited princesses and superheroes alike to join them for Boo at The Zoo.

As thousands waited in line to collect their candy, we caught up with some of the kiddos and parents dressed for the occasion.

It wasn’t lions and tigers zoo-goers were seeing at the Mesker Park Zoo, but some kittens and even a bat made the list. Boo at The Zoo brings people in from all over the Tri-State.

“We just thought, on a weekend we would just come up here because were familiar with the Mesker Park Zoo and we’d give the Boo at The Zoo a try. This is our first year coming here we wanted to see what it was all about,” Haylee Mullins said.

Others travel from hours away to bring their little ones.

“We’ve often heard of it and everyone says how nice it was. so the weather was nice tonight so we said we would bring them out to have a good time and let them look around,” Mary Nelson said.

The Nelson family brought their twins from Memphis, Tennessee to share a memory from their dad’s childhood.

“I used to come out here with my granddad,” William Nelson explained.

Holding the after-hours event for more than 40 years, the zoo knows people are leaving with memories.

“It is our longest standing family tradition here at the zoo,” Hope Mills said. “We have Boo at The Zoo because it’s really just a great way for families to come out get dressed up and experience the zoo after hours Which isn’t something everybody gets to do.”

Memories they’re making by dressing up together. Plus it’s fun seeing the kids in character.
