Madisonville approves nonpartisan elections

MADISONVILLE, Ky (WEHT) – The Madisonville City Council approved on Monday night making elections nonpartisan.

Madisonville was one of seven cities in Kentucky still using their current format. Mayor Kevin Cotton says while party identification wont’ be used, primaries will still happen if more than two candidates run for any office.

The new format will be in place for the upcoming city office elections next year.
