EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The polls will be closing soon but all day, people have been arriving at Washington Square Mall deciding who will be mayor and who will be on the city council.

Eyewitness News’ Mike Pickett is at the mall for live election coverage.

Two of the most closely watched races involve city council members Missy Mosby and Jonathan Weaver.

Both were the focus of last-minute attack fliers done by attorney and former Vanderburgh Country Democratic Party Chair, Scott Danks.

In Response, Mosby calls the mail pieces sleazy and disgusting.

Weaver said it’s disheartening that his former lawyer would stoop to a level of unprofessionalism.

This happened several months after Danks called for Mosby, Weaver, and two other council members to resign in the wake of the failed nomination of Reverend William Payne to a local commission.

Councilwoman Connie Robinson, who nominated Paye, resigned from the democratic party after the nomination was voted down.

As for the rest of the city council, four of the current nine-member are not on the ballot this time.

Evansville Mayor, Lloyd Winnecke is also running for re-election against Independent Steve Ary and Libertarian Bart Gasau.

Eyewitness News, Your Local Election Headquarters, will have the latest results once the votes start being counted.
