Aces host annual HoopFest


EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – After a long off-season, Aces basketball returns in just a few weeks. Expectations have increased in year number two of the Walter McCarty era. Fans are expecting Evansville to compete for a conference championship.

Those fans got their first look at the newest version of the Aces on Thursday night at Hoopfest. The men and women teamed up for a fun night at the Meek’s Family Fieldhouse. The night featured 3-point shooting contests, dunk contests, and scrimmages from both teams.

Both head coaches says it was good to be back on the floor in front of the fans.


“I think the fans had a really good time. I know everyone has been inquiring about the men’s and women’s basketball teams. I know they want to know how the guys have been playing. It’s a chance for people to come out to see the guys. It was a good night for the fans and the Purple Aces.”

“For them to get a chance to see campus, to see the improvements, to come in here and see the new logos, it’s really cool. That’s what it’s about tonight the fans, for them to get a chance to come see our players and meet them, and we told our players make sure you connect with the fans because we will need them back in here when tip off for our first home contest.”
