The Mater Dei grad holds school records in shot putt. Plus he is number two at UE in Javelin and Hammer throw. Michael says the thrill of each throw is almost like a runner’s high.

“It’s really sweet to get that nice throw out there, and you know you put all you can in that and it did what you wanted to do.”

He had help in his first collegiate season. His coach, just happens to be his aunt. She said this experience made it memorable.

“It’s been a lot of fun, you know with him being family, that makes it extra special.”

As far as improving for his sophomore season, Michael Boots explains, there is a lot to polish up on.

“It’s really about staying in the weight room, staying on the practice field and staying in the ring and everything has to be about work, pretty much.”
