Aces snag season opener victory over Ball State

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Highlights from the Aces 79-75 season opener victory over Ball State on Saturday at Ford Center.

WALTER MCCARTY: First half we were moving the ball, we were playing together, we were trusting eachother on defense, we were playing hard. The second half we were playing to score, our guys were lookin at the score now everybody is trying to get their points and we have to be better than that and it’s our first game so i get it. We’re gonna grow into a really good basketball team. And unfortunately we have to go through these little mishaps and because these guys are still new playing together in this type of environment but they will get it.

SAM CUNLIFFE: As a competitor, when you get up so much and you don’t feel like you’re fighting, that;s when you have to be more mature. And just lock in, and never take our foot off the gas. But i think if we just grow up, and just try to make sure that we don’t just say we won and get complacent. We just keep pushing every single day to try to get better and better.

K.J. RILEY: We played well for twenty minutes, it felt like second half we just took our foot off the pedal. They are a good team we knew the only way they could beat us is if they hit threes, they hit a lot of threes second half. We just have to lock in for forty minutes. The game is forty minutes, you don’t win in the first half so we have to close games to be a great team.
