EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Every kid dreams of scoring a touchdown. Andrew marsh smiled at the opportunity. The 8 year old equipment manager stepped onto the football field at Howell Park and was excited to play.
The 8 year old lined up in the backfield took the ball and with a giant group of teammates blocking for him and scored a touchdown. At the start of the Evansville Junior Football League game for the Colts.
Marsh has gone through numerous surgeries in his life and his parents didn’t think this moment would become a reality. An emotional moment for his parents, seeing their son live out his dream on the gridiron.
His mother, with tears in her eyes, says this moment would be very memorable.
“It’s something we didn’t think Andrew would ever get to experience and to have it come to reality, is just very emotional and very exciting.”
Colts head coach, Justin Haag, thinks this game goes beyond the football field.
“Meant a lot, it was just awesome, it was a really cool experience. I’ll tell you what, it’s a big rallying point for our kids. Sometimes you get kids who lack motivation and Andrew would love to be out there and you plant that seed with the kids and say hey Andrew would be out there if he could and and we all rally around him, so it’s really nice.”
Andrew Marsh was a little camera shy Saturday afternoon, but he was happy to spend today on the field with his team.
