EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Bosse’s Kiyron Powell inches closer to participating in a national high school dunk competition.

The Bulldog senior has advanced to the quarterfinal round of the online voting contest.

Powell is being considered out of 8 high schoolers competing for one spot in this event. The Bosse forward say it’s pretty cool to be included in this national competition.

“I never expected that, when coach told me, he got the email, I didn’t believe him at first, I was like, ‘are you serious’. All I just do is just dunk the ball, I’m just 16. But he was like, ‘you dunk it with authority.’ He really made me believe in myself, so i believe if i get to that moment, I can really show out for Bosse High School.”

The quarterfinal round of voting ends at noon on the 26th. You can vote online at the website amfan.com/fanvote
