Castle wrestling’s team seeks regional title

Castle continues its dominance on the mats. The Knights tabbed their 5th consecutive sectional championship last weekend. Next, Castle faces one of their biggest challenges this year, Mater Dei at regionals. Head coach, Bob Harmon, believes the Knights are ready for the opportunity to take down one of the top teams in state.

“The kids are ready to go, it should be a nice crowd out there at North and a lot of great competition. You bring in all of these schools from both sectionals together, and there’s a lot of good competition there. Obviously Mater Dei is the favorite, everybody is going out there to give it their best shot. We will see how things come at the end.”

Castle teammates Brooks Hartz and Devon Casebolt respectively agree and say their mentality is staying focused on the task at hand.

“We are just ready, we are excited and just trying to prepare as much as possible and ready to give it all we got. Doing what you don’t want to do gets you where you need to go.”

“Basically our mentality is just go out there and wrestle our match, don’t worry about anything else. As long as you are doing everything you can, there’s nothing to be upset about. As far as winning the tournament, it would be nice, but I mean we are not shooting to beat (Mater Dei) them, we are shooting to be regional champs.”

Regionals begin on Saturday at North High School. The Knights had 12 individual wrestlers advance.
