Central rides momentum after Castle upset

Central provided one of the first big upsets in the Indiana boys sectionals on Tuesday for opening night. The Bears stunned the SIAC champions on the hardwood knocking off Castle 64-62.

Knights led by as many as 17 early in the game but Central never quit and fought back to take their first lead with two minutes to go in the game. Central’s head coach, Rodney Walker says his team simply refused to lose.

“It came down to a bunch of guys that didn’t want their season to be over, you know 9 seniors, that’s a lot of seniors, those guys came into that huddle in the third quarter and said this isn’t it. 4 points in the second quarter, it would have been real easy to pack it in. and not play well. but they came together, it’s all their credit.”

Senior, Colton Glaser, agreed too.

“To beat a team like Castle, being SIAC champs, having the best record. I definitely did not go to bed till a lot later, didn’t get a whole lot of sleep, we were all real fired up, that was a huge win, it meant a lot to all of us.”

Central will play Reitz on Friday night in the sectional semifinals.
