Day School prepares to defend sectional title

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Day School is playing some of it’s best basketball as the regular season comes to a close.

The Eagles are heading into next week’s sectionals red hot. They have won 7 games in a row. A nice change after a rough stretch in December.

New head coach, Gary Wilsey, say’s he’s confident heading into the postseason, but is taking it one contest at a time.

“I think you always want to win a sectional, but right now we just want to advance one game at a time. We won’t look past anybody after tomorrow night, we will focus on Springs Valley, and that’s where it stop unless we get to play another one.”

The team has bought into that mentality of staying focused on the task at hand. Day School believes they could potentially win their second straight sectional title says senior Brock Wilsey.

“It’s been awesome playing on this team, my senior year, coming to a new school, we have had a great season and a winning season. We really would like to capitalize on that give Day School another sectional. This would the third in school history, so we would love to do that.”

Day School wraps up its regular season Friday night against Princeton.
