HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Ellis Park will give up four races to Keeneland. The Lexington race track lost it’s entire spring meet due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ellis Park will give up races from July 8-July 12 for Keeneland. General Manager, Jeff Inman, says both sides agreed this made sense considering the current climate.
“It’s important that Keeneland got some of its dates. They had some pretty high profile races they wanted to run and they lost their entire spring meet. We felt it was important for them to get those dates, and we could give them the 8th through the 8th through the 12th so they could get some of their major races, taking care of but we are still planning for the June 28th opening. We are seeing and still looking at how we want to handle some of the race dates. Obviously, Churchill with the September dates and with Keeneland, we will see how we want to handle that.”
