Two local evansville weight lifters are doing some serious heavy lifting in their respective sports.
Katrina Wilcox just competed at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio and won two gold medals a bronze. She explains, she's transitioned lifting into her life.
"Now it's not really about being in shape and lifting, this is kind of my therapy in a way. I think this was my best meet, mentally, I think it showed that out there and I think this is the first meet I can walk away from and I was proud of myself."
The other pair, Luke Meredith, participated in the strongman corporation ameatuer championships, which involves picking up obsecure items. His performance placed him high enough to earn his pro card. Meredith says it was a great experience.
"I just can't really explain how really blessed I am, and how proud I am to reach the professional status. Now I can go compete for money and benefit my family."
Katrina's husband, Brent Wilcox, who's been by the pair sides for nearly five years, mentions, that these two still have a lot of potential left.
"Just seeing the level they compete at, pushing their bodies to the limit on what they can do, it's awesome to watch, especially live, it's a whole differnet kind of adreline. I'm just super proud of them of where are now, and it's going to be exciting to where they are going to go."
Luke owns a gym and Katrina coaches at Crossfit 8085 once a week.
