Hockey 101: Delay of Game

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) Hey folks, Jeff Bes here. Head coach of your Evansville Thunderbolts back with Hockey 101. Today we are going to talk about delay of game. Two of the most common delay of game penalties are, 1, if you are in the defending zone and you shoot the puck over the glass. So that means if you are in your own zone behind the blue line and you shoot the puck over the glass you get a 2 minute minor penalty. The reason they call this a penalty now a days is because teams were just shooting the puck over the glass to get a break. To change the lines. So now the league and the officials have realized that and they have gone out an called that a penalty so you cant do that anymore. The 2nd most common delay of game penalty is when a goaltender or a player, a defending player knocks its home net off its moorings off the goal line. And with that comes a 2 minute penalty for delay of game. And there is yourHockey 101 for this week folks. I’m Jeff Bes. Head coach of your Evansville Thunderbolts.
