Hockey 101: Forechecking and backchecking

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) Hi everyone and happy holidays. Jeff Bes here again, head coach our your Evansville Thunbderbolts back with Hockey 101. Today we are talking about forechecking and back checking.

Forechecking is when we are trying to regain possesion of the puck in the opposing defending zone. We are trying to send a guy in, with the body, to get the puck back. The second player will come in, try to get the puck as we have a guy high at all times. Backchecking is when the opposing team enters our zone and our players are retreating back to regain possession of the puck. And that’s your Hockey 101 for this week folks. I’m Evansville Thunderbolts head coach Jeff Bes. Happy holidays and keep those cards and letters coming.
