EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) Time to introduce a new feature we will have through-out the hockey season. We are going to spend time with the Thunderbolts and learn the ins-and-outs of the game. Rules and maybe even some strategy. We call it hockey 101. And this week, Thunderbolts head coach Jeff Bes is going to breakdown the face-off.
Hi everyone, Jeff Bes here. Head coach of your Thunderbolts here with Hockey 101, we are talking about face-offs. Here is the center ice face-off. The red team is the visiting team. The blue team as the home team. On the face-off, the blue team has the home ice advantage so they put their stick down second. Visiting team puts their stick down first for the face-off. I know a lot of fans ask, why does the centerman get kicked out of the face-off. Its because he encroaches on the dot, hits the other teams stick. Or their skate. He immediately gets kicked out of the face-off. You’re out sir and you have to bring a winger in.
