EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Home Team Friday’s Crew Michael Gilbert and guest analyst, Zane Clodfelter.
Good evening everybody and welcome to week 3 of the home team Friday countdown. We are ready to break down three of the biggest games of week 3 of the high school football season.
Tonight’s games are
North at Memorial, Jasper takes on Boonville. Our Home Team Friday showdown is at Reitz at Castle.
Let’s bring in our analyst, Evansville courier and press freelance contributor – Zane Clodfelter and lets start with two teams that are making some headlines
For various reasons, Memorial trying to make another state championship despite losing key starters and North showed they can score the rock which is exciting. Zane what do you like about memorial in this contest
Michael, memorial hasn’t skipped a beat and here’s why. Memorial’s defense has been the big story for 2019. Last week, the Tigers shut out Northview. Heading into this week — Brock Combs and company will have their numbers called again against potential the rising North’s offense. I like John Hurley’s team at home against north
Well, Zane North is obviously the underdog in this contest. But the huskies are scoring this year, posting 84 points through 2 games. When last year –North didn’t reach that mark till week 6 of last year. This team has proven to be a tougher opponent. Than most have thought, This is a good SIAC matchup for week 3.
Our second game is a good for the Big 8, Boonville continues as a favorite in the conference and they have a tough contest against Tony Lewis’ Jasper Wildcats
Mike, i really think this one could go anyway but Boonville should be the projected favorite
The second consecutive week for big action and Jasper is trying to prove some people wrong.
After the Wildcats fell to Southridge last week. Expect some change for Jasper in week 3. Before last years loss to Boonville, the Cats had a 14 game winning streak. This is a fantastic contest, and it may be closer than fans think Boonville has to be feeling good after holding Vincennes Lincoln 19-6 on the road.
Darin ward’s team has been riding their defense to get them to 2-0 for the 20-19 season. Jackson Phillips needs to get his offense going because the pioneers need to score more than 19 points in game to win consecutive ball games.
Our final game of the night, it’s Reitz at Castle. Who goes to 2 and 1? Zane, you have the panthers. What needs to happen for Andy Hape’s team to secure a win in paradise.
Oh man, i like this match up. Two teams that want to gear up a little bit more starting this week.
Andy Hape’s panthers set their sights for a win in paradise this Friday. Reitz is fresh off a 45-24 victory over Clarksville Northeast and this team is hungry to get a win against their rival. The Panthers are looking to move to a 2-1 record. Reitz — they could be a dangerous team on the road this week.
Doug Hurt’s squad took a step backwards week 1 but have emerged in better form after a 43-6 victory over new albany a week ago. Castle has shown they can run the ball and get the ball to skilled player. I expect the knights to stick to that same game plan If they want a home win over the panthers on friday night.
