HTF Two-A-Days: Apollo

Sports

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – Apollo begins 2019 with a new mindset as the Eagles look to rebound after posting a losing record last season. This year, they have a fresh start. The Eagles move up to 6A and are ready for their next challenge says second year head coach, Phillip Hawkins.

“The whole progression of the program is exciting. To see all these big group of classes and the numbers we have, I think is exciting. We will have new teams on our schedule and it’s a new adventure for the program and all the kids are taken to it.”

While starting quarterback, Damian Lovinsky, is happy for a new landscape. He says it is offering the Eagles some extra motivation.

“I think we have a huge chip on our shoulder. We are here to shock people. We are here to make Apollo what it once was. I think we are going to bring in a lot of surprises, it’s a fresh start.”

Apollo boasts a handful of upperclassmen and that will help them as they begin their new campaign against Warren Central on August 23.
