BOONVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Boonville is fresh off one of its best regular seasons in program history.
The Pioneers won a Big 8 championship and tabbed a perfect regular season in 2018.
Despite all that success, Coach Darin Ward’s team isn’t done trying to accomplish more this year. Ward explains the Pioneers have a lot driving them.
“I think that’s what we have been establishing over the past few years, we are never satisfied and we are always looking for more. We want all of our guys from the youth league and up to look up to guys like Jackson, Reed and Blake.”
Senior, Jackson Phillips, shares a similar mindset. He explains last season was great, but thinks Boonville has more to play for this season.
“Obviously its a little embarrassing losing in the sectional championship like that. We want to prove that last year wasn’t fluke. We want to hang that Big 8 banner one last time.”
Boonville has a shot at consecutive Big 8 titles this year. The Pioneers start off the season against Washington at home.
