POSEYVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – North Posey’s head coach, Waylon Schenk, knows a thing or two about building winning teams.
He took Princeton from not having a winning season in 15 years to turning the Tigers into a solid program.
As Schenk begins his third season at North Posey, he believes the Vikings are hoping to raise the bar and accomplish bigger postseason goals.
“We have high expectations here at North Posey. Our expectation isn’t to go 5 and 5. Our expectation is to compete for a conference title, to compete for a sectional title, and I think we have the group here to do that. I just think we are a lot more physical, and a stronger team than we have had in the past two years at North Posey.”
As the Vikings prepare for the season, this squad thinks they click more this year. They feel their team chemistry will guide them to more wins on the football field says senior, Tristan Martin.
“We can get over that hump because we are a really close team. We bond together really well, and everybody on this team has high expectations and we want to do good. I like that we are hard nosed, we are physical. I like that we just want to compete.”
The Vikings will look good on paper as they return a majority of seniors. North Posey opens up the season at home against South Spencer.
