EVANSVILLE, Ind. – (WEHT) Reitz has long been a place for high expectations on the football field and this season is no different for the Panthers.
The Panthers enter this season coming off their lowest win total since 2004, something that has made Reitz very hungry this year.
“After last year, I think we’re pretty hungry, I think we’re ready to win. A lot of people I think would find this to be a lot of pressure I just see it as fun and just have fun on Friday nights with your buddies, and try to get a win while you’re at it,” said Reitz new quarterback Reid Brickey. “I think we’re going to be a top-notch team and someone that other teams want to beat.”
The Panthers return a core of young players from last year’s roster and hope to get back to their high expectations this season.
“Having a winning season and winning some ball games is good, but it’s not the expectation here. The expectation is that you make a run for it and win City and conference, and that’s always in the back of our minds,” said head coach Andy Hape. “I think they have a little chip on their shoulder, coaching staff included, so we’re working hard to get there.”
Reitz will kick off their 2019 season on August 23rd against Henderson County.
