ROCKPORT, Ind. (WEHT) – South Spencer head coach, John Edge enters year two with the Rebels.
Edge is trying to his team back into a better and improved form. South Spencer is looking for its first winning season since 2013.
Edge explains there is a process to building a revamping a program because it takes time and effort.
“We sat down and said here are our goals, and if we want to obtain these goals and win, then this is what we have to do.During the process, they have to grasp it and take it head on and punch it in the mouth and that’s how its gotta be.”
As far as the team is concerned, upperclassman, Kobe Bartlett, says the squads’ mentality has already improved from a season ago.
“This team’s attitude is way better. You have to have a good attitude to win games and I think we have it here. We just work hard in every practice
and we compete.”
Senior, Will Stewart follows up his teammates comments with some solid acknowledgements on the Rebels. Stewart thinks South Spencer, despite having a majority of underclassmen, could click this year because of the team’s work ethic.
“I see a lot of potential, we are a young team, we have some young players, but they are all working their tails off and they are really wanting to win, and that’s what everybody else wants too. Can’t wait for the opportunity to compete again and looking for a good year again.”
The Rebels take on North Posey for their season opener. South Spencer aims to breaking a five game losing streak in openers to the Vikings.
