Huskies shave heads to support teammate battling Lymphoma

Sports

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – (WEHT) The Huskies will look will look a bit different this fall, sporting brand new haircuts in honor of teammate Riley Haynes.

Haynes was diagnosed with Lymphoma in May and began to lose his hair because of chemo treatments. When his hair began to fall out, his teammates decided they wanted to shave their heads with him.

“I was just extremely grateful and extremely happy for all of these people doing this for me. They really care a lot and that’s the most important thing to me,” said Riley.

Many of Riley’s teammates chose to shave their heads on Monday night, as well as members of the coaching staff. Haynes won’t be able to play this fall, but says he plans to be on the sidelines with the Huskies.
