EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Summer is meant to play baseball but for obvious reasons, like the COVID-19 pandemic, that was delayed until Sunday. Hoosier Little League baseball teams can now take the field and begin to practice.
Sunday marked the first day that Indiana youth baseball teams could practice on the Diamond. Coaches & players have to adjust to new rules. There is a big emphasis on social distancing, cleaning between innings, and reducing the number of players in the dugout at a single time.
One of Golfmoor’s coaches, Jason Langley, explains it’s great to return to the field, and says they will adjust to the new guidelines.
“This is actually our first practice in the league, so we will probably get some feedback today, on what to tweak for this age group and others. The main thing is keeping social distance for us and then, sanitizing between innings for the kids and then no high fives. We have been wanting to play baseball and now the time has come, we are ready to start.”
