NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT) – “Hello, I’m Tom Rose the Director of Golf here at Victoria National and today we’re featuring hole number 5 out at Victoria National. A great opening par 3 hole. The first par 3 they’ll see in their round. The guys this week will be playing it anywhere from 180 yards all the way up to 220 yards depending on where the tees are at and pin locations.
A real tough off hole. Almost kind of an island green and if the wind is blowing at all it can be all the hole they want. Really a tough stretch with 5 and 6 being the longest holes on the course. Imperative they try to get the ball on the green and get out of ere with a par and maybe a chance at a birdie. (hits ball) Well as we can see we came up a little short here with our Tee shot off number 5. As you can see from the camera shots a very difficult green. One of our bigger greens out here at Victoria National.
All sorts of undulations and risky spots here. Kind of depends on where the pin is at and where you end up on the green. Many of the guys don’t want to have a putt like this in the event where they’re coming up the hill. Let’s see how we do with this one and hopefully we can get it down in two. So we came up a little short on the first putt here but it’s a good chance to make par here so let’s see if we can get that done.
Thank you for watching these segments and we hope you can join us at Victoria National this Friday through Monday for the Korn Ferry Tour Championship. You’re going to see some of the greatest golfers in the world competing for 50 spots on the PGA tour. Thank you. “
