(WEHT)- Former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher and Evansville native, Jerad Eickhoff announced Friday night he will join the San Diego Padres.

The 29-year-old Eickhoff attended Mater Dei High School and is the second major leaguer to come from Mater Dei, after Rob Maurer. Eickhoff was originally drafted by the Texas Rangers but was traded to Philadelphia in 2015.

Eickhoff has missed large chunks of time due to injuries in both of the last two seasons, including biceps tendinitis and a blister in 2019.
