HANSON, Ky. – (WEHT) There might not be a high school basketball team in the tri-state with more hype this season than the Maroons.
Coming off a run to the Elite Eight last season, Madisonville says those high expectations return this season, and with good reason. The Maroons are loaded with talent including Division I targets K’Suan Casey and Kenny White.
“Last year, they were doing the hunting, but this year they’re the hunter. They realize that each and every time they step onto the court they’ve got to bring their best. They want to get back to the spot that they were in, and that’s at the state tournament with a shot to win the whole thing,” said head coach Matt Beshear.
The Maroons are off to a perfect 4-0 start this season.
“We came up short last year, so that gives us fuel for this year. Our goal is to win it all this year. I think that we can be one of the best teams, probably the best team that’s ever came through Madisonville North Hopkins. If we go out and play like we know we can every night, we can be special,” said senior Kenny White.
Up next, the Maroons will take on Hopkin County Central.
