Mater Dei soccer eager for more uncharted success

EVANSVILLE, Ind – (WEHT) Mater Dei girls’ soccer has had an unbelievable run in the past few seasons. The Lady Wildcats have won the state championship twice in the last three years, and this season, they’re hoping for more of that success.

“I think this group of seniors specifically really wants to win again, it’s not something we talk about, but I think in the back of their mind it’s probably got to be something they’re thinking about because they’ve been such a huge part of the success,” said head coach Amy Weber. “It’s gonna be tough but I think we know the SIAC is loaded from top to bottom so that’s going to prepare us.”

The Lady Wildcats will move up to 2A this season due to the success factor, but they say their schedule already includes mainly 2A and 3A schools.

Mater Dei will kick off the season against Mount Vernon on August 19th.
