EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) Every fan base has one fan who can be called a super fan, and for the Evansville Otters, that fan is Nick Drake.
Drake sits right behind the Otters’ dugout, never missing a home game and even making the trip for some away games.
“There’s no doubt you can hear him, even on busy nights you can hear Nick, and he is strategically placed right by our dugout,” said Otters’ Manager Andy McCauley.
The Otters say Nick’s enthusiasm is contagious, especially after every that Nick has had to overcome. Nick was born with autism, a heart issue, and has had multiple other health problems and surgeries in his lifetime, but he doesn’t let that slow him down.
“It’s special, I say hello to him every game,” said Otters’ catcher Mike Rizzitello. “It really puts things into perspective to see what really matters. It just brings you back to Earth.”
Nick says he plans to be at every game for the rest of the season and hopes to see the Otters make a run at the Playoffs.
