Memorial gears up for regional play for first time since 2015

Sports

Memorial’s boys basketball team prepares for the regional round for the first time since 2015. The Tigers knocked off the defending 3A sectional title holders, Bosse, last Friday night to claim the sectional championship.

Tigers will face a very good Silver Creek team in Huntingburg on Saturday. Head coach, Rick Wilgus, says he’s happy his team gets to experience regionals.

“I think they deserve it. We have had three of these guys play for four years and this was their first opportunity to cash in the chips. I think it really meant something to them. Anytime you can continue to still play in March, you are doing some good things.”

Memorial and Silver Creek tip off at noon on Saturday.
