Memorial tennis has had quite the success in the postseason over the past two decades. The Tigers won the sectional title on Friday afternoon for the 17th consecutive season.
“It’s really cool for these girls to be a part of history and be able to add to that championship mentality,” said head coach Derrick Woolbright.
The Tigers defeated North to advance to the their sectional title. They now advance to regional play next week, where Memorial hopes to keep their success rolling.
“We said at the start of the season that we wanted to make it to State,” said freshman star Ellie Meyer. “It just feels really good to win today and keep the tradition alive.”
In addition to dozens of sectional championships, the Tigers have won six state titles.
