NCAA grants D1 spring athletes extra year of eligibility

(WEHT) – The NCAA and the Division I council has decided to grant athletes who compete in spring sports an extra year of eligibility, but has decided athletes who compete in a winter sport will not receive an extra year.

Baseball, softball, lacrosse, etc will get an extra year of eligibility. The NCAA statement continues to say, the decision will allow schools to have self-apply waivers to restore those student athlete who had competed in a shortened season due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
