North girls win first sectional championship since 2011

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) It’s been a long time coming for the North girls. On Saturday night, the Lady Huskies ended a long drought, winning the 4A sectional championship for the first time since 2011.

North beat Castle 56-44.

The win also was a bit of redemption for North, who had lost 10 of 11 games to Castle.

North head coach Tyler Choate says, “It was an emotional night for us. For me, the girls, our coaching staff. It was something we had worked for, for a long time. And it feels really good.”

Senior Gabby Joyner adds, “It’s just nice to see hard work pay off. We have been working hard since the spring and sectionals was a goal we all wanted.”

North will now play Bedford North Lawrence in the 4A regionals.
