POSEYVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – North Posey’s Josiah Ricketts is helping the Vikings win games this year as a scoring machine.
The senior guard has 1,712 points, he’s the school’s all-time scoring leader and when he expectedly hits the 2,000 point mark, he will be just the 55th player in IHSAA history to do so.
Ricketts says he feels very fortunate to be in this position.
“It’s cool, I definitely couldn’t have done it without my coaching staff and teammates, and everyone that has supported me and it’s not something I have thought about that much honestly, but it’s definitely cool, and to be up there with some of the names who have done it.”
His coach, Heath Howington, complimented Ricketts’ leadership, his work ethic, and his ability to be a good teammate.
“He’s a special player and he’s a better person than he is a basketball player. And we think he’s a really good basketball player. He’s a program guy that we have enjoyed working with every single day and we are trying to cherish every single second we have with him and the rest of the seniors.”
North Posey is off to a 6-3 start and will face off against Mt. Vernon on Friday.
