Otters hope to pick up momentum despite roster changes

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — The Evansville Otters are hoping to string together wins this week as they hit the road amidst multiple roster changes.

Last week, Patrick McGuff and Taylor Lane were both called up to affiliated baseball. On Monday, the Otters announced another departure as Randy Wynne was called up by the Reds affiliation.

Manager Andy McCauley said the moves leave an opportunity for other players on the current roster to step up.

“I think we have the best team in the league, but that means nothing until you get out here on the field, so hopefully we can get some things together, get Ryan and Cronin hot at the top of the order and Castro and Calabrese and Phillips through the middle and string together some wins,” said McCauley.

The Otters are amidst a tight race in the West Division, currently sitting at 19-14 on the year. Evansville will be back in action Tuesday night at Windy City.
