Princeton advances to sectional championship

PRINCETON, Ind. (WEHT) – One of the great things about the Indiana high school playoff system. It’s a second chance for team who didn’t have good seasons to turn it around.

Princeton has done exactly that. The Tigers won 1 game in the regular season, but Jared Maner’s team has won consecutive sectional games.

The Tigers will host Vincennes Lincoln in the sectional 30 championship game. The Alices and Tigers played in the last game of the regular season and Lincoln won 34-10.

Princeton head coach, Jared Maner, says his team is ready for the rematch.

“This means everything, this is a big thing, you can’t talk about any other championship until you win a sectional championship. This is the big one. It sets our program forward if we win, and obvisously would bring a ton of excitement to our community.”

“We can finally silence everybody,if we do it. I have heard a lot this season with us going 1-8 about how bad we are, but now we get a shot to finally prove who we are. I am ready to bring the hardware back. I feel very lucky playing for a sectional championship, first time since 1986. I feel like we are given an opportunity and have to chance to win against people who beat us in the regular season.”

Princeton and Vincennes Lincoln kick off on Friday at 6:30 central time.
