Reitz boy’s tennis team heads to state for first time

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Reitz’s boy’s tennis team is heading to the state finals for the first time in school history. The Panthers received a big send off Thursday morning at the high school.

Reitz advances to state with a perfect 21-0 team record. Plus, Cole Claybourn’s top three single players are a combined 75-0 this season.

He believes nobody is giving his team a chance.

“A lot of people are counting us out already because we play Carmel, the number 1 team. And whenever i tell people who we are playing, they have the similar reaction. It’s kind of like at least you made it there. They are already expecting us to lose. There is a reason why we are ranked 11th in the state. We are a good team. We believe in ourselves, and we don’t want the run to stop now. We are motivated to keep this going, and we want to keep seeing that zero in our loss column.”

Reitz and Carmel play Friday at 11 in the quarterfinals.
