Ryan Newman hospitalized after crash at Daytona 500

DAYTONA, Fla. (WEHT) Indiana native Ryan Newman has been rushed to the hospital following a crash on the final lap of the Daytona 500.

Newman was sent into the wall, and then hit by another car which flipped Newman car into the air. Newman’s car then slid down the track on the roof before coming to a stop past the finish line.

It took rescue crews several minutes to remove Newman from the car before placing him in an ambulance and rushing him to a local hospital.

NASCAR says Newman suffered serious injuries but they are not life-threatening.
