Thunderbolts open training camp

Sports

EVANSVILLE, In (WEHT) It was a busy busy morning on Wednesday at the Ford Center. The ice is down and hockey is back.

The Thunderbolts opened up training camp with a new head coach as Jeff Bes takes over the team.

Bes has been a head coach in the SPHL for 7 seasons and he has never missed the playoffs. Bes has his work cut out for him in Evansville. The Thunderbolts have had the worst record in the league in 2 of the 3 years they have been in the SPHL.

Bes says, “The first day is always exciting, and you want to keep building, and everyone here has the right attitude, and guys are still eager, working on their skills working on trying to get better and that’s what you want. You want to give these kids an opportunity to come here, play the best hockey they can to their abilities, represent the city of Evansville in the right way and themselves and then move on up.”

The Thunderbolts home opener is October 19th.
